About Us

Robbi/Catastrophe is a dyed in the wool geek. She is also attributed in some content as Lady Macbeth  She’s atypical in that she’s a female over the age of forty and defies you to tell her that’s uncommon..and when she tells you that she understands computers better than people–trust us, she does..

She has worked for Disney/Go.com,  HotRate, Mozilla, editing and setting up search engines, Quin Street Marketing, in SEO and copywriting,  WBS in Menlo Park, hosting an internet talk show, multiple marketing companies such as No Gravity SEO and Over The Top IMS… and you name it..

A former customer service director for  Charles Warner, the author of Invision Board; Copywriting, Word Press word press design and CMS, Hacking windows (nope not the bad kind) and  teaching antiphishing and internet Security  to children and adults are her favorite things.  Linux, Windows and Perl are her favorite play toys. She’s a corel and Gimp baby and will tell you to keep your Adobe to yourself –she likes open source.

“I firmly believe that there is nothing someone can’t learn about computers, from the first grader to the ninety year old if they actively take a few minutes to sit down and play around with it. The oldest newcomer to computers can build a website in a week if that’s what they want to do. The problem is explaining it in a way that they understand.”

She holds certifications in 17 differing areas of geekiness as well as firefighting, hazmat and nursing. She is active in all areas of consulting, and writes prolifically for multiple internet sites,(nature, computers, travel, leisure, crafting, cooking and many others,) including this one.

She is also the mother of the second site owner–

David holds certifications in security and software that are far too numerous to count, as well as a Bachelors in Systems  and Internet Technologies.

David is among a handful of people who can view any aspect of a network, tear it down, and rebuild it, or tell you how to secure anything, anywhere. Yes, he sometimes has pieces left over.

David is the founder of CPU4All, a company that gathers up older software and hardware and refurbishes it to distribute free of charge to the elderly or at risk youth, ad teaches them to use it.

He is  also our resident security and Linux Guru.

Donald French is a household name in computing, and can teach you anything about anything that you’re interested in.

Our resident guru in multiple areas of programming, but particularly Ruby On Rails, Donald is in part responsible for the TRS 80 computers of Tandy fame, along with having owned and operated his own company, and single-handedly tackling several of the hospitals in the US record keeping systems and overhauling them.

If you’ve’ got programming questions in Ruby, we’ve got no doubt that Donald has the answers. He’s one of the few of the earlier honest to goodness geeks who kept up with the changes both online and in the technology and is still making use of them today.
