I’ve got to say that the award for the most worthless, privacy invading, ridiculously amateur, overrated, and absolutely with no redeeming features, software ever goes to Feedjit. I have seen more of them lately than you can shake a stick at being stuck up on blog sites by people who simply don’t have a clue what they are offering to the world.
Every other website and blog owner has one. Be ORIGINAL. Don’t post dumb stuff on the blog cus its SEEMS techno cool. Okay so maybe its a pet peeve.
I for one will bounce off your site in three seconds flat when I see it. I won’t be back til you remove it. I know hundreds and hundreds of other people saying the same thing. So why are we still seeing these on every other website out there? Do I do bad stuff out there NOPE? Do I want you sharing with your viewers what town I am sitting in.. NOPE!! I hoped the penchant for this silly looking thing would burn out. Sadly there is someone in every crowd who things some silly thing is cool. It lives on.
Do any of you KNOW how amateur it looks to offer up your visitors home and private location to the world at large?Do you want people knowing where you are from when you visit their site and being able to say.. oh gosh. that one was from XXX town and potentially finding out more information than you want them to know?
Do you really think that its smart of you to post that information and trade it for what.. three hits a day? When is the last time that Feedjit gave you any real traffic. you can get more from a yahoo answer with a link and not compromise the location of your users or friends.
I for one do not want my home located posted on your website. If I want you to know that my butt is coming to you live from the top of the Eiffel tower.. I WILL TELL YOU.. You, as the owner of your site have the right to know where I am from. You do not have the right to offer it to the world. How UTTERLY stupid is that? Should I post your home phone number on my site just because I know it?
The public disclosure of my location troubles me. The fact that you don’t even consider that a stupid move troubles me even more. If you are so completely unaware of how wrong it is to post that information for the rest of the world, then what could your site possibly offer that I want? Whoever dreamed up that one definitely slipped the average amateur site owner a bad monkey. What makes otherwise smart people get online and post up every little tiny ridiculous trivial thing they can fit on their sidebar in the name of being “cool”?
Okay. that being said.. folks if you have feedjit. Take it down It’s annoying, it’s privacy invasion at its best and it makes you look like you don’t know what you’re doing. Even if you don’t, there is no point in advertising it.

Don’t you think you’re being a little paranoid? Feedjit rocks! I love visiting a blog and seeing who’s been there. And it doesn’t show actual identities – just city level.

I think paranoid is someone who wears a foil hat. No, It shows city level or town level. I don’t live in a city. I live in an extraordinarily small town.
The fact that it tracks my location using my IP is bad enough. The fact that it emblazons that for the world to see is simply ludicrous.
Paranoid? Maybe.. but read the privacy policy on your feedjit. It also reserves the right to sell you out to third party advertisers and that’s enough for me to say no thanks. Now granted you can change your town name to something that expresses how you feel about the idiots who use this.. so we will give them credit for that little option.
I”ve done this for lots of years and seen a lot of invasions. There’s no way that you can tell me something is invasion proof cus I”ll tell you that is ludicrous.. Now I don’t mind people knowing where I live if I want to tell them, but what if.. you didn’t want the world to know that your server is c*****t and you live in w*******n?

Hell, no it isn’t paranoid. I’m from a small town with pretty brutal politics. Through a google alert, I ended up visiting a crazy man’s blog. And now guess what? he sees that someone in my town has visited his site. WTH? He & his followers are nut cases & now they have more evidence of people on the other side living in this area. Not good.
