VOIP – What’s That About?

The Internet has become part of nearly every aspect of our lives, and helps most of us take care of a good portion of our banking, bills and communications.

The beginning was the BBS and all that it entailed, along came email, which gave us the ability to communicate with people in other countries in the blink of an eye, and just when people have gotten used to that, along comes VOIP, giving us the ability to speak to Europe for mere pennies per minute and save all of us a good bit in both time and money.

VOIP, or Voice Over Internet Protocol, offers up some significant advantages over regular phone service, yet surprisingly its not as well received as it might be, and many people still use regular land line type telephone, although the cell phones have in fact surpassed the land lines for sheer numbers in the past couple of years..

VOIP, or voice over as it is amended to, has given us some significant advantages when it comes time to call internationally, or even within our own countries using long distance.
It is today the most common method of calling used with one wants to contain costs, and All types of long distance, including the international call can be made at a far less expensive rate that will permit you to save on your phone bill from the very first call you make.

One of the best ways to use VOIP internationally is to use what is called a branded network. Vonage is one of these and I’m particularly impressed with it. The price was below 30 USD a month, the service was outstanding and the ease of use, ease of installation and total impressive quality of the phone sound was all I’d wished for.

Nope, not a Vonage affiliate but definitely a fan..

VOIP, for those who try it will provide a far greater ease of use than that of such free services as are now available, given that they will usually require the other user, regardless of his or her area or country, to use the same type software that you are currently using.

With VOIP, you have a reason to use the phone instead of email to contact your friends and relatives who live a long distance away. You can talk longer, say more and say it far more cheaply. For those on a fixed income such as old age pensioners, or as we call them here, the Social security set, getting voip is just good sense.. It saves money and if you could do it when you were fifty you can install it now. It’s a no brainer, I promise you.

VOIP is a revolution in long distance telephony, the use of it will reduce or remove the charges for long distance calling to a great extent.

When regular analog telephony was primarily in use either national or international could create a phone bill that looked a great deal like the national debt.

They do offer lowered cost and great efficiency whether national or internationally used.,
The one big hitch in the calling availability when using VOIP internationally is that it is of course dependent upon the supposition that the country you are calling will have an adequate infrastructure, which they sometimes do not, dependent upon the country and since it is dependent also on internet connectivity, that too must be consistent or the VOIP will be less than viable to use..

With VOIP technology on a fast upsurge I believe that we may see the time very shortly where every country has adequate broadband and infrastructure that VOIP will be the new wave .
Finally, we have a reason to talk longer, and not hang up to save pennies on the ever rising telephone bills.
