Telecommuting. Working From Home Makes Sense

Among the things that the personal computer can do for you, is give you a chance to spend more time with your children,  lower the cost of your trip to work, when you use something known as the telecommute. What telecommute means is that  you work from home and appear in your office only when necessary.

There are multiple people working from home today, using whats called telecommuting to “go to the office” via the internet. Among those who are working from home offices today, are writers, accountants, marketing personnel, research personnel, programmers and web site designers just to name a few.

The internet is being used not just for telecommuting to work, but also for  telecommuting to school, attending classes and learning new careers and new technologies as well. There are now multiple colleges and universities that are offering online classes, some of which lead to a degree.

Some of the careers that are part and parcel of the work from home revolution are:

Copywriting: web sites need writers for content and copy on the internet, and the e-zines, as well as web site and graphic design.

Programming: Companies who require small amounts of programming in various languages will often outsource their work to freelancers working from home.

Call centers: Quite often a call center will require assistance and permit you to work from home, logging your hours online

Virtual Secretary: A great many companies will let you work from home, processing orders, making phone calls, typing and emailing their correspondence.

Accounting: accountants the world over are now finding it easier to work from home and email their spreadsheets or other documents to the companies who hire them

Realtors: often working from home are realtors, who make their appointments online and then show up to show the houses.

Medical Transcription: is very often done from home in today’s work world, saving you the commuting, permitting you to be at home where you want to be and turn in work either in person or electronically once or twice a week.

These are just a few of the work at home opportunities. Along the way are also some wonderful freelancing sites which will help you to make a living from a home office by giving you freelance jobs there for a fee, or permitting you to bid on those jobs.Sites which advertise for companies and individuals to come in and seek out an employee or hire a freelancer are very common on the internet today, among them:

Getafreelancer.com

www.guru.com/

www.project4hire.com

Each site has different rules and different ways to make money from their site so be sure that you check the rules that the one you select has to make sure you’re comfortable with them.

A few things to keep in mind, make sure that the site you select is a reputable one and NEVER pay in advance for the chance to have a job or to work from home. Quite often those jobs turn out to be lucrative only for the person selling you the materials and no  one else.

Working from home can be a profitable and rewarding experience.  If you like writing, are good at graphic design or just love to doodle with web sites, and yo’ure good at it, chances are you can make enough within a few months that you can afford to work at home all the time. There are rarely degrees required by the companies who select the freelance worker so you don’t always have the educational restraints you may have in getting an office job in the same field as another incentive.

I’ve become so accustomed to it that frankly I would not have it any other way, and have lost the urge or desire to work from an office. If you’d like to attempt a work at home career, explore some of the great sites available to you that let companies hire a freelancer to get their work done. Working at home makes sense for you, and for the companies who outsource, saving overhead and travel time.
