PDA’s seem to be all the rage right now, for people under twenty but even for those of us who are over forty and still teching it up. PDA’s aren’t just for kids you know.
What the heck is a PDA? It stands for personal digital assistant. Typically it is a fax machine, a cellular phone, a mini computer and a lot more.

Just picture it. You’re on your way home from work, stop at the mall and it hits you that you forgot to email your client with a critical update, or your co worker with a new directive from the boss. No you don’t want to head back to the office or go immediately home, but you do need to get that sent. Pull out the PDA and take care of it then and there, while you’re waiting for your daughter to decide on that prom dress.
Email on the go, or mobile email, is the best reason I can think of for anyone to want a PDA, but there’s other techno fun out there now too.
I’ve got a granddaughter who absolutely refuses to go out to eat unless I bring along my PDA. She loves the games, the email, the instant messenger and all of the other little perks. In reality , so do I.
I did after all, put them there.
Mobile email is something I can’t honestly live without, and I never thought I’d care for it one way or another. It’s easy, its fast and it keeps me in touch with clients and friends who just pop me an email to let me know whats happening for the day.
Nearly any mobile service now permits you to send email and retrieve it, however one quick word of caution. If you normally take in bigger attachments, or files with you email, even though they probably aren’t as slow as it seems like they are, to me they seem to take ages to download.
While that’s the main drawback of them, they are in fact, lifesaving devices, whether for work or for fun.
A side note: The LG Rumor, or LG Scoop offers some of those same perks, such as email, instant messenger, online or offline gaming, weather and stocks, web browsing, keyboard and even an MP3 Player when you load up the mini chip. Excellent little instrument.
